Ashton Woods Homes, David Weekley Homes will build Model Homes at Oakland Park

Castle & Cooke Florida is pleased to announce that two national builders Ashton Woods Homes and David Weekley Homes have begun construction in Oakland Park.  Models are projected to be completed by the beginning of March, said Bob Hennen, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Castle & Cooke.

Both Ashton Woods and David Weekley have experience in the construction of traditionally inspired homes in other communities such as Celebration, Baldwin Park and Laureate Park.  Homes in Oakland Park will be available in the Folk Victorian, Craftsman, Florida Vernacular and Colonial Revival styles of architecture.  In keeping with traditional neighborhoods, homes will have deep porches, close proximity to parks, rear loaded garages and a diversity of available elevations.

Ashton Woods Homes will offer models priced from the low $200s to the low $300s. Living areas will range from about 1,900 to 3,500 square feet.

All homes in Oakland Park will be certified to meet the standards of the Florida Green Building Coalition as a Green Home.  To meet the standards of “green” certification both builders will offer homes with features that use electricity and water efficiently.  Both Ashton Woods and David Weekley adhere to the energy-efficient Environments for Living® standard, which means, for example:

• Models by Ashton Woods Homes will meet the requirements of Energy Star 3.0 using energy saving features such as double-paned Low-E3 windows, 15 SEER HVAC Systems, radiant barrier roof sheathing, Energy-Star-rated appliances, and insulation techniques to assure a well sealed, performance-rated home. Houses built by Ashton Woods Homes are 32 to 42 percent more efficient that homes built in 2006.  For more information about Ashton Woods Homes, call (407)668-9949.

• Models by David Weekley Homes include “low-e” windows, R-38 attic insulation and energy-efficient heating-and-cooling systems. Houses built by David Weekley Homes today are on average 29 percent more energy efficient than homes built in 2006. For more information about David Weekley Homes, call (866) 994-3639

The 258-acre community is currently the only new-home community in Orange County to be certified as a Green Development by the Florida Green Building Coalition, (FGBC). Lying on a bluff that overlooks an expansive view of Lake Apopka, Oakland Park also strives to evoke a sense of history. It lies within the historical communities of Winter Garden and Oakland where early pioneers settled Central Florida. Winter Garden’s popular and historic downtown business district is a short drive away or can be reached via bicycle on the West Orange Trail, which traverses through Oakland Park.

Hennen said the commitment by two national home builders to construct new models at Oakland Park reflects their belief that demand for new homes is rising in Central Florida.

“We have seen inventories of new homes declining and demand getting stronger,” Hennen said. “Everyone acknowledges that the real estate market is far from where it was a few years ago, but we have reached a point where there are sizable numbers in the marketplace. The nice thing is that when we see prospective buyers, we know they are seriously in the market for a new home.  Oakland Park is truly unique in the marketplace and should be attractive to a broad spectrum of buyers”

To reach Oakland Park, take Plant Street west from State Road 429. Follow Plant Street through downtown Winter Garden until it becomes Oakland Avenue. Go past Tildenville School Road. The sales center is on the right.  Additional information is available by calling (407) 905-5667 or visiting http://www.oaklandpark1844.com
